Stephen Francis Atelier ® (SFA) is an interdisciplinary holding identity – a creative home where fine art, illustration, and design converge. Rooted in ecological and material storytelling, the atelier has grown from a design-focused studio into a multi-disciplinary collective. It is a space where large-scale installations and fragile paper works sit alongside whimsical picture books, playful digital worlds, and thoughtful brand collaborations.
Each identity – Stephen Russell-Brett ®, Francis Russell-Brett ®, Bunny & Ivy ®, the SFA Design Studio ® and the SFA Publishing Press ® – carries its own voice and practice. Yet all are bound together by a shared philosophy of impermanence, narrative imagination, and an unwavering attention to detail.

Stephen Russell-Brett ® is the atelier’s core fine art practice, encompassing large-scale installations, intricate works on paper, and site-specific interventions. His work traces themes of ecological grief, impermanence, and material transformation, using layered, time-sensitive processes to explore the fragile relationship between humanity and the natural world.

Francis Russell-Brett ® extends the atelier’s reach into contemporary illustration and digital expression. Francis’s practice blends whimsy with precision – from stand-alone digital artworks to narrative-driven commissions – offering playful yet considered visual storytelling that resonates across both personal and brand contexts.
Bunny & Ivy ® is the atelier’s imaginative world of books, art, and design for all ages. Playful, whimsical, and joyfully narrative, B&I weaves together illustrations, objects, and stories into a universe that celebrates curiosity, creativity, and wonder.
Extending beyond the page, the Bunny & Ivy Conservatory and shop create a space where audiences can engage with this world first-hand. Discovering artful editions, curated objects, and experiences that nurture storytelling and imagination.

SFA | Press is the independent publishing imprint of Stephen Francis Atelier®, extending the Atelier’s creative practice into books and printed works.
Bringing together art, writing and considered design, the imprint publishes artist books, studio journals and selected creative projects developed across the Atelier and its practices.
Each publication is approached as an object in its own right, shaped by the same attention to material, image and detail that informs the work from which it emerges.
